It is undeniable that all newsgroups morph into chat rooms, but why? I
attribute it to the low intelligence level of the participants (members) of
the groups. Let's face it, no one with any intelligence would be caught dead
on a newsgroup. It is, if not for idiots, then for the next level above that
category (8th graders).
It takes intelligence to say something that might be of interest to others.
If you are dumb, as most everyone on these groups are, then you are hard put
to ever say anything that is of interest. In fact, you are pretty much so
dumb that you are limited to just single sentences or phrases. A paragraph
composed of several sentences is clearly beyond almost everyone on these
cycling newsgroups.
The very best illustration of what I am talking about is AB. This is the
Australian cycling group. It is nothing but a chat room and a dumb one at
that. They blabber to one another like monkeys. Half of them may very well
be Aborigines which would explain the low level of the group. Tamyka Bell is
the star of the group and she is a cipher, even for a woman. But the other
cycling groups are not far behind. The best thing I can say about ARBR is
that it is now a dead group. May it rest in peace!
The only proper attitude to have about newsgroups is one of mockery and
jest. You have to dumb yourself down to the prevailing low level, at which
point you can become one of the guys. Hey Ma, look ... no one here but us
idiots!
