anything to do with traffic, etc. but just stupid young

places), and are even honored by a handful of other states.

who has killed a human. My wife (non-cyclist) owns a Glock
that weighs 3 pounds empty. That's less than most of the
Rivendell followers carry in fenders, Brooks saddles, and
canvas handlebar bags. Perhaps that's what some of them
carry inside those bags!

OP here. I was driving today (12F, 15-20mph wind, I'm not up
for). Some kid in a big truck pulls _way_ into the
intersection at a stop light. I, turning left, come pretty
close to his truck -- driving slow and careful, making sure
I don't hit it. The kid starts screaming inside the truck
and honks as I finish the turn, apparently incensed that I
was "too close" despite the unfortunate place he decided to
stop. A nice reminder that it's not just being on a bike
that's a trigger for some people.

.357/.44/.45/9mm. My .22 or even .32 is fine as you're only
looking to shut down the engine of that car that just laid
on the horn and yelled insults at you with something to do
with "[censored]" and "lycra". The heavier caliber ends up
penetrating through too many other vehicles or people which
can cause you greater inconvenience in the long run.

you might benefit from the class that your state requires
you to take to get a concealed carry permit. It could save a
life or keep you out of prison.

However, Massachusetts has some of the strictest gun control
laws in the country. I have a pistol permit (which actually
allows you to carry) although my gun interests lie only in
hunting, which I no longer do, and general "plinking".

For you persons concerned about Patriot Act infringements on
your liberties, try getting a pistol permit! You'll be
investigated by the FBI, state and local police, finger
printed and photographed, even though not charged with any
crime. It's just assumed you're a dangerous whacko.

I've got three pistols, a 22 rifle and a 12 gage shotgun,
none of which I've used in years, and certainly have no
interest in carrying around with me, least of all on a bike!
