Who do you guys root for?

    I used to be a big Tyler Hamilton fan. I also used to be a huge Landis fan. I'm obviously a little bit angry about being let down by these two.

    When I watch the tour, which is pretty much the only cycling thats on TV here in the US, I almost always find myself pulling for the guys in the long breaks to win. But I've had a hard time deciding who to root for in the GC, just cause so much doping suspicion surrounds everyone. Given that I suck at picking people to root for, who should I be cheering for and why?

    Also, I'm a huge tennis fan and I usually watch tennis matches online (it costs a small
    amount of money to get really great live coverage). Is there a similar thing for cycling, so that I can watch other races?

    As for who to watch, my countrymen (Aussies), allrounders (like Basso, Landis, Vinokourov etc etc), guys who attack all day like Vino, Kessler & Voigt. Then there are the future stars of the sport like Valverde, Kashechkin, Schleck & Cunego who should develop a great rivalry over the next 10 years.

    I took more notice of Zabel after seeing Hell on Wheels, more notice of Sastre after seeing Overcoming (about CSC). I also became a Landis fan after I read that after he imploded at La Toussuire this year...he had a few beers to drown his sorrows (that's what I'd do!).

    As for who not to follow...Petacchi is a whinger. I can't stant Kloden's earring 😉 . Bettini is a phenomenal racer, but after he put Baden Cooke into the barriers at the 2005 Giro, then cried when they penalised him and poured his champagne out...well...I'm not a massive fan (but I still respect his consistency).

    Originally I was a fan of Dr. Ferrari, but his arrogance got the better of him. Before last season I really grew to appreciate the work of Dr. Fuentes. Sure, he takes on too many clients, but he did some great work for the Spanish riders. Dr. Ceccichi never did it for me -- true, he's worked with Ullrich and Hamilton and he obviously knows where to stick a needle, but it's obvious his client base has declined.

    Last year an early season dark horse was Dr. Brent Kay. He clearly did some good early season work with Landis, but got sloppy during the Tour. A bad misplay by a strong Doctor who showed a lot of promise.

    In terms of pure skill with an IV, a vial of growth hormone, and a couple of refrigerated motorinos, you just have to go with Ferrari. He runs a tight ship, the blood always arrives on time, and his clients don't get caught. Now that Fuentes has lost his lab, Ferrari is the obvious pick for next year. I definitely see him winning the Tour and several other races.
