Hi
Today, I used automotive White Lithium Grease spray on my derailleur pivots and brake pivots and wiped off the excess. Now I'm worried that will attract dirt and cause more wear and tear?
Should I have used my finish line chain lube on the pivots instead? Is this a major problem?
Oh, I also blasted some of that spray inside my STI shifters too...
It probably won't cause any problems with the pivot points as long as you wiped off the excess really well. I don't think I would have sprayed it into the STI shifters though, because there is considerable space for dust and dirt to get into the mechanism. I think you should call your LBS about this to see if it will cause a problem, or maybe Peter @ Vecchios could comment as he is much more knowledgable than me about the internals of STI brifters.
