  1. Hey there everyone,

I would consider myself an intermediate beginner to mountain biking. I am around 69" tall and weigh around 185lbs. I am currently searching for a new FS mountain bike. I will be mostly riding trails with some streets mixed in occasionally. I would love to purchase a Specialized Stumpjumper, but just can not afford to. I am looking at a price range of below $500. Preferably between $300 and $400.
I have looked at the local retail stores, (you know the ones, walmart and the likes) and also been searching online. Can anyone give me their opinions about the mongoose renegade, xr100, schwinn s-30, and the trek y26. I have seen others in the $500 range, but I am not sure if I am willing to spend this type of money on something I will only be riding on the weekends. Any help and suggestions will be appriciated.

  2. Well Astilla, good luck in finding a FS ride under 500 bucks.🙂 You might be able to find an old or beat up one on EBAY or something. But honestly, and this is just me, I believe if you were to spend more money on your ride, you would be better off. You would have something dependable, it will definitely last longer than any wal-mart bought ride, and if you were to buy from a local shop, they'll probably throw in lifetime tune-ups and stuff like that. But thats just me.

    HAPPY HUNTING

    Signed,

    The P2RIDER😄

  3. i just picked up a "good" FS bike, 2k3 Kikapu, 1300.00 w/o tax. I know that is way out of your range.

check your local bike shops and see what they have from last year, most likely it will be on sale. The shop where i bought my bike also had a 2k3 Kona Kahuna for 800.00. That would be a steal!
