  1. I currently race a 26 inch hardtail but as I am almost 6ft 3in (189cm) tall I reckon I would be better off riding a 29er. I am also contemplating going for full suspension rather than a hardtail. Here in Thailand there is no chance for me to test ride frames before purchasing, so keeping in mind that I want to win XC races, what 29er frame do those of you who race 29ers recommend?

Just to complicate matters further, I am also wondering if I'd be better off with a single speed?

    JB.

    1. There's no substitute for local knowledge. 29'ers roll better over rocks and bumps but they sacrifice a bit in the quick handling department. Depending on what kind of trails you are riding and how you actually use the bike, it may or may not be best for you.

    2. If you want to win XC races with a single speed, you'd better find a bunch of other guys, who are all on single speeds, to race with.
