  1. Just wondering if there is any place that I have neglected to look for a used bike? I'm in Melbourne, Australia and am looking to spend about $1500 on a bike and am thinking of going second hand.

I've tried Ebay but am sceptical of buying a bike have not tested / seen in person.

Can anyone give me any suggestions?

how about test riding some bikes at your LBS. if they don't have a used one, take note of the size and model and year.
search on ebay so you won't be surprised on how it fits/rides

    that's a great suggestion 🙂
I've bought three bikes, a frame, and a full Campy Chorus groupset on eBay and never had any issues. I've made sure to ask questions, ask for pictures (close-ups) of the components and frame, and ask more questions. If you follow the old 'buyer beware' adage, you can do fine. Make sure you know what you want, what size, what components, what brand, and keep an eye out for a deal.

    good luck!

  4. I've had great luck on Craigslist.org.

    In NZ there is "Trademe"

I imagine there is something like that on OZ. Good luck!

  5. See if the police have auctions of bicycles the end up with. propertyroom.com.
You might be surprised at what you find in the trash.

$1500 is a alot. You might get a classic motebacane and uprgrade.
