Where's my chlorine?

Yes, and it was off the scale.

Yes, and it was off the scale.

Then is the water being replaced by new water?

Sunlight "burns" out the chlorine, but I don't think it would disappear
that fast.

Take a water sample into a pool shop and test for "buffer". At the
beginning of the season it is common to be low of cyanuric acid which keeps
the chlorine active longer.
