I'm getting back into lifting after a long layoff. I'm still making big gains (from a pretty pathetic base) by following a three set routine consisisting of 12, 8 and 3 reps per set at weight that puts me somewhere between fatigue and failure on each set.
Most of what I read is telling me that the only reason thet my routine works for me is that I was so out of shape that _anything_ would work. On the other hand, having raised my bench from 160 to 225 (yes, yes, I am weaker than all of you, I'm sure) over 4 months makes it hard to abondon my current routine.
Should I definitely start a periodization cycle? If not now, when?

Only when what you are doing now stops working. If you are still making nice gains, keep at it! Why change?
