As the title may suggest, I am confused as to what indicates the end of a shared use footway. There are many signs in my local area that signify that the current path is a shared use footway, but there appears to be nothing to indicate the continuation or ending of this footway.
How am I supposed to know when this path stops being a shared use footway and becomes bog standard pavement? Is it at the end of the path by the kerb? Is it when the path leads to a crossing? Is this a failing of the local council/whoever for not including the appropriate signage?
I've searched for an answer but have been unable to find a definitive one. Please forgive my ignorance if this question has already been answered somewhere else (and if I'm generally confused by something you guys have answered a thousand times before)!
Never seen this before. Please don't take my reply very seriously as I don't know much about cycling regulations in the UK, but it seems to me that it is probably a case of the local council failing to have the appropriate signage posted in that area.
Thanks, kdelong - I'm inclined to think the same! I wonder if anybody has been caught out and fined for riding on the pavement due to a lack of appropriate signage? Hmm... 🙂
