  1. Hi,

I'm toying with the idea of building myself up a surly cross check as a kind of go anywhere bike for commuting and multi day rides on off road trails (C2C, reivers etc for those in the UK)

Just wondering how much should I budget for a decent set of wheels for mixed terrain? Anyone have any recommendations for factory built wheels or recomendations for a UK wheel builder and which rims/hubs would work well?

    Cheers

    David

Thanks for this. The 105 hubs with the Mavic Open Pro sound pretty tempting based on price! Now to find a wheel builder!

Excellant choice for any type of riding - smooth & bombproof! It also might be the world most popular wheel- for good reason. Let the custom builder do your fancy wheels, you should be able to find the exact or similar wheel at any decent local shop. If not local - move, or go online to performance or any other humongous retailer.
