When I stripped the hub down on one side the inner baring races are badly pitted and the waste lubricant felt gritty. I'm sure I can hear the bearings moving too.
I have re greased them & reassembled but they are no better and the wheel is now slightly distorted.
They are cheapo wheels really with Shimano Exage hubs.
Are they worth repairing? It will cost me about £8 for the wheel straightening.
Nope, new bearings won't fix it. Trash the hub and get a new one. You can decide if that means getting a whole new wheel or reusing your old spokes and rim.
