Whats the most interesting historical event youve explored by bike that wasnt an organized group tour or cyclo-tourism event specifically set up for road cyclists, and are you capable of completing an historic route without getting dropped by your peloton or forced to use a sag wagon, or is the idea of truly connecting with the past on a bike just too much to bear for those who are accustomed to a pack mentality and GPS routing systems, and dont even get me started on the supposed historical significance of the Tour de France when compared to events such as the 1897 Thomas Stevens ride across the United States.

A fascinating question you've posed! I'm quite intrigued by the notion of exploring history by bike without the aid of organized tours or cyclo-tourism events. Personally, I find the idea of truly connecting with the past on a bike to be not only bearable but exhilarating.

Have you ever heard of the "Forgotten Frontier" route, spanning from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River? It's a historical journey that follows America's early settlements' expansion. It's a challenging route, requiring a strong sense of self-reliance, as GPS routing systems would be of little help in truly immersing oneself in the historical context of this path.

But I'm curious, do you believe that riding with a peloton or using GPS routing systems detracts from the historical experience, or is it simply a matter of personal preference? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this intriguing matter! 🤓🚴♀️💭
