Whats my BB

It probably has the old cup/cone type, and not a cartridge type, be careful here some threads are left some are right, strip and measure it.

Yeah that sounds right, it has an axle that has threaded extension on each end to which the cranks bolt. The axle bearings rest against a 'bump' for want of a better word on the axle then against the inside of each endpiece. Question is what sort of modern cartridge style BB will fit the frame. Im using all Campy components in the restoration and im trying to mate the future BB with some record cranks i just got through e-bay.

Check the cups and/or the spindle of the BB. Typically, somekind of spec. markings will be stamped on it. English are 68mm, Italian are 70mm.
