I've got more time to email more important stuff. I just emailed The Tonight Show's site asking Jay leno (who regularly spends six figures on vehicles) that it might be fun instead to spend a little cash custom building the world's most fuel efficient vehicle - a fuel cell powered recumbent streamliner. Across the US on "a gallon of gas" is the slogan.
It is a shot in the dark, but at least it isn't feeding trolls.
I agree Across America on X pounds of fat would be good too. 50 calories per mile (1,000 calories per hour) is really hammering (or a big person, or a mountain bike, etc.) If you really played the game like a horse race, picking a very small person who was very aerobically efficient, a very slippery vehicle, a slow speed, and subtracted the rider's base metabolic rate, you might pull off "Crossing America on 10 pounds of fat".
