Hello all,
I have entered into the Durham 'Beast' Bike ride on Sept 5th. The route is 50 miles and 4700ft of climbing.
I have been training through the summer for the ride, focusing on the hills, my main route being a 22mile course with 3000 ft of climbing (yes my area is v v hilly!)
I have done practically no rides longer than this, with the exception of 2 80mile rides, however these were mainly on flat terrain.
I have 4 weeks to the event (therefore 3 of actual training), and wondering where I can best put my efforts to get the time down. How many times should I do the actual route itself (I was thinking at least once in order to get some confidence)
I was also hoping for a worthwhile goal to aim for. My PB for the 2 mile course is 1 hr 30, although obviously this pace would not be sustainable over the remaining 30 miles.
Thoughts?
