When setting up speedos how do I measure the wheel? Do I measure it from the top of the tyre to the bottom or the diameter of the metal bit (the wheel itself with out the tyre)?
The way I see it, the latter would make more sense as the size of the tyre changes at different pressures....which [censored] up the diamter of the wheel. However the wheel itself doesnt change in size unless damaged in some way.
You measure the circumference (all the way around the part of the tire that touches the road) with the tire on the wheel and inflated exactly as you would ride.
Easiest way to do it is to mark a spot on the floor and a corresponding spot on the tire. Roll the tire forward until the the mark on the tire is again pointing to the floor. Make a mark on the floor at that spot and measure between the two marks on the floor.
