transferred to a lightweight plastic bottle?
No bother at all. Ski touring in Norway in March we didn't
want too much weight so we took cask strength whisky. This
is about 55% abv rather than the more usual ~40% abv and you
add a fair bit of water to it (when whisky comes out the
casks it's this strong, but most is bottled diluted by the
distillery's (or blender's) usual water supply). Not wanting
the glass bottle we decanted it into a plastic bottle which
didn't appear to trouble it.
As well as saving weight it's potentially rather nicer as
well, though not cheap. OTOH, I don't see much point in
taking Bells when you can take a decent malt, even if it's
"regular" rather than cask strength. The main supermarkets
do very good value malts which come from the Serious
distilleries, the only catch is you don't know which one.
But since you'll have access to hostelries in any case it
may be easier to just pack a wee hip flask for the odd morale-
boosting sip to see you through a rainy spell or the like.
Very good things to have for future day walks too :-)
Pete.
