I've been transiting through Paris quite a few times over the last 3 months, spending my time between CDG and the surrounds of Gare du Nord. Out of these multiple monocular visits, I have seen plenty of bicycles on the road, but only 1 road bike with someone wearing kit. It baffles me - every other city I visit (including those with much worse traffic and road conditions (Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Johore Bharu etc) guarantees me the comforting sight of someone out training or doing a fast commute. Is the Gare du Nord - Seine district uniquely bereft of bicyclians of the drop-bar variety, or is it a plague of greater proportions? I've seen more road bikes in Equatorial Guinea and Sarawak, Borneo than I have in the TdF's Capital. Tell me that my Leffe-clouded vision is a mere aberration...
