what rack do you use on your 'bent ?

Get one of these underseat racks [1] and a small set of panniers. Put
the heavier items in them for better weight distribution. Most regular
upright racks should fit on the back of your Taiko (check with your
dealer or Burley to confirm this). Put you lighter, more bulky items in
a regular size set of panniers mounted to the rear rack.

.. I've got it installed on my Burley Django. Generally it performs
well, but it doesn't handle heavier loads as well as a rack attached
directly to my old upright touring bike. That being said, for the vast
majority of my needs it performs quite well. I've used it for commuting,
and it's okay with a change of clothes, lunch, tools, and a laptop in
the side panniers. I'm not sure how many pounds it takes, but at some
point the rack feels like it's vibrating. I think it's because of way
the rack is held away from the bike. I now have a trailer for heavier
loads, which the Django handles quite nicely.

I use the conversion kit that Burley sells and a Blackburn(?) rack. As
to how well that combo holds up - I've carried logs on it. Seriously,
I'm a woodworker that uses fresh greenwood so when I find a freshly cut
log I grab onto it, and being wet they can be heavy. Ok, the log was
about 18" long and 6" diameter. Not a particularly big log, but it was
heavy. Another I'd been keeping in water for a month - to ensure it
didn't crack.

For the seat back, I use a 'Day Pack' hung over the cross bar.

Arkel (www.panniers.com) makes some of the finest touring panniers on
the market. They have recently introduced a recumbent specific pannier
(RT-60)

I use a RANS HT rack on the rear of my Giro and a Tubus Cargo on the
back of the P-38. I also have an underseat rack on the Giro. What ever
you do about rear racks, be sure that they are mounted so that most of
the load is in front of the rear axle.
