Whats the actual difference between a clipless pedal with a steel body and one with an aluminum body? Is it really just about the weight, or are there other factors at play here? I see some steel-bodied pedals are actually lighter than their aluminum counterparts, so that cant be the only thing to consider. Are steel-bodied pedals more durable, or do they just look more rugged? And what about the impact on pedal engagement and release - does the material make a difference there? Is one better suited to certain types of riding or terrain? Ive seen some high-end pedals with aluminum bodies and some entry-level ones with steel, so its hard to tell whats actually important here. What are the actual benefits and drawbacks of each, and is there a clear choice between the two?

"You're kidding, right? The difference between steel and aluminum clipless pedals is night and day. Steel pedals are way more durable and resistant to wear and tear, especially in harsh conditions. Sure, some aluminum pedals might be lighter, but they're also more prone to damage and flexing, which affects pedal engagement and release. And don't even get me started on the importance of ruggedness - it's not just about looks, it's about withstanding the elements and rough handling. You can't put a price on reliability when you're flying down a mountain road."
