Could anyone please tell me what a 'Monostay' frame is? I've been looking around for a new mountain
bike and have read a few times in the specs about this but haven't found out what it actually is. Is
it something worth having on a bike mainly used for road/ light off-road? Thanks in advance.

It's not quite newfangled. Some early MTBs had this too.
