Hi there, I work for a charity and am exploring the viability of organising a 3 day cycle challenge from Chester to Canterbury which is about 220 miles.
Not a cyclist myself I would be interested to hear of your experiences...good and bad of charity cycles in the past, and any suggestions for us before we start planning.
Many thanks!
Jules

for starters make it 4 days, surpassing the 100K-a-day mark for non-cyclists is no piece of cake, i can think of a few ideas but i have not experienced a charity ride yet so i prefer others to give you some better insight on this one,

Bikini-clad girls at the registration tables, for starters. Lots of cool schwag handouts. Plenty of nuetral support vehicles on the course. All kinds of fresh fruit, home baked cookies and energy gels at the rest stops with bottled water on ice.
Free massage and hot showers at the finish. And there must be free beer and food at the finish area.
I usually settle for a safe route, decent quality roads that are well marked with Dan Henry arrows, nice scenery and, if at all possible...great weather! I prefer too hot to too cold. A good pocket map with logical directions is another thing I just expect to be done well by the organizers.
A good first aid team/squads well spaced and ready for the worst.
