I have bought a Trek 1000 2001 for my girlfriend, it has a Sora Triple 8spd (I think). The chain is in quite a state however, and must be replaced. The previous owner has already changed it once and replaced it with a non shimano one.
What Shimano chain should I put on it? I have got a HG73 for my Tiagra Triple, is that going to be fine or do I need a HG53?

Either of the following chains will work. (HG-91, HG-70) I believe the hg-73 is for 9 speed only though.

Any shimano HG 8 speed chain. You can also use any sram 8 speed. The casette may also be in a terrible shape and I'd replace it too. if it's original.
