  1. Hey everybody. Anyway, I have been searching, and searching, and searching for a bike. I will be doing as much amateur racing as a I can get my legs on and I am just wondering what would be the better buy now, and for down the road.

    Here are the bikes.

Specialized Bicycle Components : Tarmac Elite

    and then...

Fuji Bikes - Roubaix ACR 1.0

find a shop and go in and talk about what you want to do. Both of those would serve you just fine now and for a while. The specs look fine all the parts will work. The cassettes are spaced out to give you a big range from top to bottom gear, which is good for road riding in varied terrain but may not be ideal for time trialing or finding just the right gear for the moment. I know from experience the askium wheels on the fuji are heavy, they are bomb proof and make a decent training wheel, but for racing... a heavy wheel won't do you any favors in a sprint, crit, or climb.
