i am totally new to biking, i haven't cycled in more than 10 years. i recently moved to paris france and now that the weather is getting better i want to buy a bike for cycling around town on the weekends. the thing is i also want to ride around in parks and on paths (nothing too hilly or off road). ideally, i would like something which is agile, light and fast.
so what kind of bike am i looking for?
can i get something which is a cross between a commuter and a mountain bike?
i want to spend up to about 350 Euros (450 dollars max). i know that's not much but i dont wanna go for something top range immediately.

i tried out both bikes and they felt comfortable, i prefer the sitting position of the commuter but the looks of the mtb...lol
any advice would be very helpful,
