Whats the point of even calling an electric cargo bike a commuter if it cant handle at least 20 miles of stop-and-go traffic without needing a recharge? Im seeing a lot of manufacturers touting their e-cargo bikes as perfect for urban errands, but when you look at the specs, theyre barely capable of making it across town without running out of juice. Are there any e-cargo bikes out there that can actually handle the demands of daily commuting in a city, or are we just being sold a bunch of overpriced, underperforming toys? And dont even get me started on the so-called cargo capacity of some of these bikes - if it cant haul at least 50 pounds of gear, is it really worth calling a cargo bike? What are peoples thoughts on this - am I just expecting too much, or are there some e-cargo bikes out there that can actually deliver on their promises?
