Went to the Velodrome, many thanks to MSeries for the lift
and the much needed snacks after.
It is such a grin, very scary the first time you hit the
banking, then you start to feel a bit more confident, then
your legs start hurting so you stop for a breather, decide
to have another go and try to relax a bit this time.
Brilliant, brilliant fun, but very hard work to keep the
speed up, quite warm, I should of taken a bottle with me. I
should give up smoking as well.
In the session before us were a bunch of little kids (Dave
Chadderton's club, I think) who were going round up on the
blue line looking very confident. Some of them were very
little and had the cutest little track bikes, just like
proper ones but sort of kitten sized. I've just got to work
out how to get my ten year old into it so I have an excuse
to buy her a trackie bike.
The hire bikes were really rather good, 531 frames, all
proper parts, biggest size was 23.5 which was a bit small
for this fat bloke.
Anyway, much recommended to anyone who is thinking of having
a go, I'm definitely going to do it again, but must get
fitter first and thanks to Martin for the lift.
