pretty darn heavy,
I use a neoprene back warmer underneath a belt.

You can get a hernia taking a [censored]. Lift right and be careful of max
attempts and you'll help yourself to avoid injury all around, not just
hernias. Are you particularly worried about a hernia for some reason?
