Weight Watchers slowly but surely

I've been doing Weight Watchers online for six weeks today. I've lost six pounds! some people say
that I have done poorly but I am really full of energy which I think boils down to me eating lots of
small meals throughout the day and I really feel like my lifestyle is changing for the better with
lots of exercise and healthy eating. My weight at the moment is 231 lb (16st 7) and my goal weight
is 175 lb (12st7) for ( 5,11 male) ive got 56 lb to go.

Excellent work! Slow but steady wins this race! Keep it up!

Hello Rob and welcome to asdww. If you're looking for encouragement and support and advice from good-
humored people, you've come to the right place. I use WW Online and this group myself and the
combination works for me. Congratulations on your progress thus far. Finding what works for you
while you're losing weight and figuring out a way of eating you can maintain for life is what WW and
this group is all about. What you're doing seems to be working just fine.

You are doing well there! WW recommends between one and two pounds per week, so that's just fine. As
you are discovering, it's not just the poundage that has to change! It's taken me a year to lose 28
lbs/2 stone, and I'm halppy it's gone, feel MUCH better in lots of ways, and, like you, have more
energy than I used to. It might be nice if it went a bit quicker, but hay - it's gone, which is the
good thing!

Welcome. Sounds like you have the right attitude and are losing in the range suggested by WW.

Doing poorly? Slap those people who have the gall to tell you that! You are NOT doing poorly, you
are losing at a perfectly healthy and safe rate and one that has been proven best for success at
keeping those excess pounds off for good ... 1-2 pounds per week.

Nice going on the loss so far, and continued success on the balance of your journey. Stick around
here if you can. It's a great bunch for support and encouragement, as well as a friendly boot in the
bottom on occassion (but you have to ask for that). <grin>

Hi Rob. Welcome aboard this great newsgroup and congratulations for getting rid of those 6 pounds.
Anyone who thinks 6 pounds is not much, should have to pick up a bag of potatoes & carry it aroung
for a while - then they'd know just how much it really is!!! Elaine K

Rob! Who the heck says you are doing poorly? 1-2 pounds per week is
recommended and you are right on the money! That's great! Keep up the good
work and don't listen to what anyone else says. : )

Welcome to this great newsgroup where you'll receive lots of support, advice, and encouragement.

Here's a short synopsis by Joyce -

How many points you can eat is only based on your current weight, as you lose weight those points
allowed will decrease (logic is that your body will need less to operate). At 183 pounds and based
on the new US flexpoints system, you will have a set point target of 24. In addition to this you are
allowed 35 flexpoints to be used throughout the week ... as well as any activity points you earn on
a particular day. When your weight drops to 175, your target drops to 22 points ... weight reaches
150, target once again drop to 20 points. 3 servings of dairy of recommended per day, 5 servings of
fruit and veggies, minimum of 6 glasses of water.

To calculate food and activity points, I love this computer desktop calculator ...
http://www.xmission.com/~zythra/downloads/points.exe

WW suggests your ideal weight should be somewhere between 116 and 145 depending on your age.

The basic plan is easy. Eat at least your minimum daily number of points. Points do not carry over
from day to day. You are allotted 35 weekly flexpoints to be used at your discretion ... can divide
them up and use daily (would be an additional 5 points per day) or save them and use them for a
special occassion during the week. Activity points are earned based when exercising, but can ONLY be
used on the day they are earned.

If you can afford $15/month, the online ww program might be a great thing for you to look into.
There is lots of information available, as well as the food point database and journaling system.

Disclaimer: As an unmoderated Usenet newsgroup, asdww is unusual in that most of the people who
participate are respectful, considerate folks who freely share their experience with and knowledge
of WW, weight loss, and maintenance. Yet occasionally, spammers, trolls, and flamers show up to post
advertising, false information, insults, and the like. Nearly all of the time, people like this are
just trying to yank someone's chain. Most of the regulars on this newsgroup offer their experience
as a suggestion to try if you're stuck, but are quick to advise that each person has to find what
works for him/herself. If someone posts something that doesn't sound right to you, ask the
newsgroup, ask your WW leader, or ask your health professional.

Much success on your weight loss journey! WW works!

my seventh week of Weight Watchers online, and I have lost three pounds so I am now 228LB'S (16
stone 4lb), so I have lost 10 pounds in seven weeks. Which I am told is an average amount of weight
loss. I feel like I'm so much fitter and healthier from just losing 10 pounds. The thing I'm
concentrating on at the moment is knowing that one day I will reach my goal weight. And trying to
prepare myself mentally, That this is something I'm going to do the rest of my life, I'm sure so
many people say this and end up putting the weight back on. I myself have lost the weight before and
put the weight back on there's nothing more discouraging. But I suppose it's all about changing your
lifestyle which is important. I hope I don't forget this?

congratulations "rob" give yourself a pat in the back, that is hard to do,
is being a while since i lost weight, like you i have been up and down, but
i think that perhaps this time i can do it, keep up the good work, use this
as your motivation to keep at it,

That sounds right to me Rob. I got to goal this past August after doing this over and over and over.
The only thing that is really different is that I was determined not to quit this short of goal, and
determined to do whatever they said to do to keep it off. So far so good. This mornings weigh in,
still has be 4 pounds under goal.

Welcome Rob. For someone who'e been doing WW for only 7 weeks, you've already discovered the secret
to getting and staying thin for life: changing your lifestyle. On this newsgroup we often talk about
this way of eating (WOE) becoming our way of life (WOL).

Like you, I've lost weight several times in the past, only to regain it plus more. This time, I'm
really concentrating on figuring out what works for me, making allowances for and planning for
occasions (like yesterday here in the US where it was Thanksgiving Day), learning portion control,
embracing exercise, and remembering all of that. It's a good thing I have a lot of weight to lose
because that's a lot that has to sink in.

Keep coming back Rob. I look forward to hearing more about your weight loss experience.

LOST 10 pounds in 7 weeks but I am at week 9 and still at 16st.4lb(228lb) I have not lost or gained.

Are you drinking lots of water, eating your required fruits and vegtables? Have you reduced your
portion sizes and recording everything you eat in your journal? These are key elements of making WW
work for people.

How about posting a typical day's menu for folks to offer suggestions.
