I "typically" wash them in the wash machine *and* twice (or thrice) per fall/winter/spring cycle I treat my main wet weather riding jacket (Gortex with ripstop nylon shell) with Revivex or Nickwax (they help the outer shell bead water). I tend to prefer the Revivex. It seems to last longer, through washings that is. I've heard tell of better products than Revivex, but have no clue what they hell they are. Good luck.

  3. Yea, you might try washing it by hand as well.

Here is some equipment I like for riding. It works great.
