Look at www.turistforeningen.no (Oslo)
and also at www.stavanger-turistforening.no ( a lokal branch in Stavanger, in the south-western part
of Norway),
they also have pages in English.
The "turistforeningen" have more than 360 cabins across the country, mostly in the mountains. Many
cabins are open all year for everyone (cheaper for members), many cabins have provision.
The "turistforeningen" ( turist = tourist and foreningen = association).
There "turisforeningen" have a small book keeping informations about all cabins, routes etc.
I live in Stavanger and at this time of the year (winter) I often drive to the mountains for skiing
, only about an hour to drive. There I can choose between many cabins, the nearest cabins lays about
7 km from the road. At the cabins you often (always) meet a lot of nice people, you can really
sosialize there.

Look at nafcamp.comnafcamp.comOpen ↗ for camping sites.
Ideal when moving by car are the small cottages in the campings sites ('hytten'😉. (Take your own
sheets with you.)
And - the coast is the more impressive area - even by car.
