  1. Rode the Trans Pennine Trail from Stanley north of Wakefield to Leeds today. When I tried it last
year the section into Leeds was just a muddy groove but it is now reasonably surfaced all the
way. There are one or two short sections that leave a little to be desired one being around the oil
depot near Swillington and carrying your bike up and down a flight of steps isn't a lot of fun near
the sewage works ( romantic isn't it ).I don't think it would be so pleasant in the wet.Naturally
the worst surfaced section is the bit under the auspices of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council
to the Leeds boundary. The signing as one gets into Leeds is a bit hit and miss but all in all a
great improvement from fighting with the traffic. If you live in the area and want a route to Leeds
    give it a try.
