I totally agree BC. Funny that in all the local NYC coverage on the
testimony that Schilling was never shown once (a funny thing this
Yankee/BoSox rivalry).

The thing that I've been wondering about is this: Baseball is an
olympic sport; weren't all olympic sports supposed to comply with WADA
or else lose their olympic status? Shouldn't MLB then have to comply
with WADA standards then?

Olympic Baseball in the US is governed not by MLB but by USA Baseball.
Presumably, when MLB players are playing in the Olympics or other such
competitions, they are subject to the WADA code.

Only the participants under control of the Olympic National Governing
Body, which is USA Baseball, not mlb (small letters intentional).

It might make for some fun if a mlb player subject to the union
contract also fell under the NGB, although there is probably some
exception made that doesn't get the union's back up about the
additional testing. I think right now though that Olympic baseball
isn't pro.

Guess it also means that a good player caught doing drugs while
playing for the national team could either continue to play in college
(controlled largely by the conferences) or go pro, even while earning
a lifetime ban from the Olympics. Amusing...

The commissioner is playing stupid and pretending there is no problem. That
is sending a message to all the players that it is ok as long as they don't
get caught. When you have such a big mess to clean up you really need to
start at the top. Time to dump the chump.
