Not completely, though it is possibly a bit of a play on words.
"Platte land" literally is "flat lands"
"platteland" as a single term is normally used to indicate the rural areas, or sometimes taken as 'anything to do with farms'.
The first URL I got with Google http://www.vriendenvanhetplatteland.nl/ is some sort of farmers non-profit PR organisation. Looks like they are sponsoring the team.
