  1. Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether all Vitus
frames are threaded the same way. I owned one for the last
five or so years, up until this morning when the top tube
cracked. I enjoyed the frame while it lasted, and would like
to get another Vitus frame. However, I've been given to
believe that the threading on these bikes is a little
idiosyncratic. Does anyone know whether, if I succeed in
finding another 56 cm frame, it is guaranteed to fit my
components? My old frame was of 979 tubing, and I think was
made sometime in the mid 1980's.

    Thank you much, Chris

  2. I also have a Vitus 979 from the mid-80's. I've never heard of the BB being threaded anything other than English but I suppose it's possible. I also think that some of the later models were spaced to 130mm at the rear dropout. Your 126mm rear hub would still work, but should be spaced out to 130mm for best results.
