  1. Lately, I am suspecting that vitamins are really draining me of
    energy.

For the past 2 days, I tried a vitamin B complex that had the
    following profile:

    Vitamin C 300mg - 500%
    Thiamin B1 15mg - 1000%
    Riboflavin B2 10.2mg - 600%
    Niacin 50mg - 250%
    Vitamin B6 - 5mg - 250%
    Folic Acid 400mcg - 100%
    Vitamin B12 6mcg - 100%
    Pantothenic Acid 10mg - 100%

I had slept plenty well - even 10 hours on one of the nights. But
after taking this vitamin, it really put me out for about 5 hours or
so. I was at work and so I tried my hardest to stay awake, but I
really felt like a zombie and could have fallen asleep if I were to
lie down somewhere and close my eyes.

So today I avoided the B-complex vitamins and just tried a regular
one. Not as much fatigue, but similar.

I feel like these vitamins are doing me much more harm than good,
although I haven't completely figured out exactly whether this is
caused by the vitamins or not. Could it be the way the vitamins are
affecting my stomach? When I feel a stomach upset, I have similar
symptoms of extreme fatigue and mild nausea. And it felt like the
vitamins were causing the same symptoms.

Anybody else have any similar effects?

  2. Exactly the opposite - I take vitamins and I can't sleep!

  3. I think your response to the vitamins is more typical since the
B-complex vitamins should allow your body to better use energy.
Perhaps I'm just one of those who react badly to such a high RDA
    percentage of certain vitamins.

Ok. I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV. However, I have _Anectodal_
evidence that high doses of B vitamins can lead to restlessness and insomnia.

Why not reduce the B intake a bit and see if that helps?

If you would like an herbal sleep aid, perhaps you might want to look-up
    Passion Flower or Scullcap.
