  1. I was diagnosed a week ago with viral otitis media, meaning it just
has to "run its course" rather than be treated with antibiotics.
However, I am itching to get back in the pool. I don't feel all that
great -- I still have a sore throat from the drainage and also lots of
gunk coming out of my nose, but I'm functional (going to work, etc.).
My hearing is still quite impaired but I am not dizzy or anything.

I am hoping someone else on here has gone through this type of
illness, and when you felt like you could get back in the pool. I was
supposed to do a triathlon tomorrow but I pulled out because I still
    don't feel healthy.

    Thanks in advance,
    Kama

    Tip 1. Ask your G.P.
Tip 2. Do not commence training until you have completely recovered from
    illness.
