As a Londoner I am really looking forward to watching the Grand Start and 1st stage of the TDF go through the city.
I have a couple of questions for my fellow Londoners:
1. does anyone know what the best vantage point for watching the GD section of the race. I think I am going to try and catch it at the serpentine section. I imagine it will be very busy, but worth it.
2. Does any one know if there is a good guide to the TDF as I need to brush up a bit before the event begins?

I'm not from London so would be interested in what your thoughts are on good spots to view....but here is a link that will give you an overview on the event
I think anywhere on the prologue course should be ok, and there will be heaps of screens to watch the event from..
for the first stage I have decided to catch a train out to dartford/greenhithe to watch the peleton belt past....south-east trains are selling one day passes that allow you to get on and off as much as you like...hopefully this spot will be ok as I am an aussie without a bloody clue!!!!
as long as I can get a beer that night (to celebrate robbie mcewen winning in canterbury - i dont mind)
I would imagine the crowds will be massive
I think Constitution Hill should be a good spot to watch because the riders'll be going past in both directions.
As for stage 1, if you can get to Goudhurst that will be a great spot. These are both top tips in the Tour guide that's free with the Guardian on Monday 2nd.
