Our City made a video regarding what to do with West Lake Sammamish Parkway. If you want to see my
lovely face, I'm in it about 2/3rds of the way through. There's also a short clip of me and my 9
year old on the tandem demonstrating the hazards of using the existing bike lane for riding north-
bound. After that little segment was filmed, we headed south-bound on the road and about 6 miles out
of our way to come around and go home, rather than go north-bound and in the wrong direction on the
bike lane (or taking the lane on that busy street, which is not to be done with your nine year old.)
Upon second viewing, I got annoyed at the quantity of airtime that the anti-bike Parkway residents
got. My blood boils when that lady says that having a bike/ped lane on the east side of the road is
"unsafe" because of all the driveways. She'd rather have the property owners on the other side of
the road have the responsibility to actually have to look for non-motorized folks, while she gets
the luxury of not having to bother. I'll probably need to see the thing several times to develop a
decent response.
