After a long illness, Ron Shepherd died this week.
He was co-author of "The Dancing Chain", the definitive history of the derailleur. He was
widely respected as a bicycle historian, planner and advocate for bicycles as urban
transportation, designer of bicycles, an early promoter of low gears and triple chainwheels and
as a formidable rider.
Condolences to his wife, Anne, and to his daughter.
