What did he do in the Ely Hardriders?
Did the bent riding have any effect?

He ducked out. can't say I blame him the winds of the day were atrocious it
turned out. Really bad crosswind/headwind on a fair bit of the course. Got
there - he did his warm up and decided that as on the warm up he was blown
across the road *almost* into a car, that once was enough of that for a day.
Several people decided not to start, or started - got a little way & dropped
out. When we were driving home, part of the course was our route. A cyclist
we were hanging well back from, waiting for a safe place to overtake, got
blown back & towards us by the wind. Good job we were holding well back -
white van man behind us was not appreciative of our caution, but we prefer
to be safe for ourselves and to other road users as opposed to tosspots in
    white vans who don't...

There's always another day to do a 25-mile TT :-)
