  1. I have been using MiniMed pumps for many years, but have never even put the keychain remote on
my keychain because I thought I had no use for it. However, I recently had a dream that a woman
was using a pump with the remote and was telling me all the benefits of it. Thinking this might
have been some sort of subconscious message, I put the remote on my keychain. I've have not
    used it since.

Does anyone have suggestions for when the remote comes in handy? Since I don't wear dresses, that's
not an issue. The only time I can think I might use it is when I'm driving, but even then, I could
    use the audible bolus.

Thanks for any input you have.

  2. make sure you stock up on batteries. They seem to die pretty quickly

when using the key chain remote you "are" using the audio bolus feature. The only time I found it
handy was in the movie theater, bolusing for the hot dog and popcorn I was eating. Other than that I
haven't had a need for it.

I've used it a few times, when out at resturants with friends and not wanting to pull out my pump,
it's usually in my front pocket, this time it was in my bra. :-) I've also used it a few times when
driving, when it's in my front pocket makes it hard to shift positions to take it out, easier to use
the keychain. Other then that, usually sits and collects dust on my dresser.

  5. If you enable the remote function, your battery life will be MUCH shorter. I get at least 6 weeks
out of a set of batteries on my 508 when audio bolusing and the remote feature are turned "OFF". If
I enable audio bolusing, I get less than 2 weeks. The remote function also is a battery killer. I
tried the remote when I first got the 508, but it isn't necessary except for strategically placed
pumps for women. My wife has a 511 and once or twice a year she will use the remote because her pump
    is under her dress.
