  1. I'm interested in upgrading components and I'm a little nervous about certain gotchas that might come up through the process. I want to upgrade the components on my Cannondale R300 from the old Shimano Sora to 105.

Are there certain issues that I really need to take a look at when figuring out what I'm going to do? Such as...

    • Certain measurements I need to know
    • Parts compatability issues
    • Things that I just shouldn't try on my own

If you guys have any ideas I'd really appreciate it....

Well, you probably shouldn't. You'll need to throw away everythng but the frame and fork, otherwise just sticking some 105 stuff on it will be a bit pointless. but FWIW, and not to be a [censored], the seattube clamp diameter is 11/4", the seatpost size is 27.2mm, the BB threading is english with a 68mm shell width. The minimum for 9 speed 105 is shifters, chain and cassette. I'd ditch the sora crank and BB too.
