  1. i ride about 20-60 kim a few times a week. road terrain...mostly flat but i've been getting into the mountain roads lately, too. I've noticed i could use a few extra gears. I ride with a shimano acera 24 gear set and i'm looking to upgrade to a 27 or 30 speed. i've noticed alivio and deore...what else is there? I'm not looking for the best. but better than what i have now...and something that gives me room to grow into. cheers. much appreciated.

  2. Upgrading the number of speeds will require, at a minimum, a new shifter, cassette and likely a chain. Read up on shifting systems here:

    You can get lower ratios by using a wider range cassette.

  3. thanks for that. how much much better is the deore 10 dynasyn set than the aviola 9 speed set? im looking at a $50 usd difference.
