Upgrading from Veloce

If you go to Chorus cranks you have to switch out the BB, but everything else should drop right in.

In my opinion, you will not wear out the shifters, the front derailleur, cranks and probably the
rear derailleur. You may need chainrings and that would be the time to upgrade. If you go to
Centaur, you won't need a new bb. Chorus will need a new bb. The quality of the rings Centaur/chorus
are the same. You will likely need to rebuild the shifters in about 10,000 miles.

A new bike? Would you change your car if a fan belt broke or you needed brakes?

Yes to ders but I doubt the front will wear out, samo with the crank..Chorus needs a 102mm vice
111mm BB. Shifter guts are the same, Chorus/Veloce and if they do 'wear out' can be overhauled.

I won a new bike in a raffle---well, I won a gift certificate that has to be spent for a bike at a
LBS. That's why I am trying to figure if I should get another road bike or a mtn bike or just what!
I guess it's a nice position to be in, but I feel slightly traitorous for even considering another
road bike. I guess that's because the Veloce is the first bike I have had since my 1984 Schwinn. The
riding difference was so great with the Veloce that I wanted to cry when I first tried it out.
