I was pleasantly surprised to see 4 unis show up at an annual event that has grown quite large. We have the "Climb the Mountain" event every year here in Flagstaff where folks contribute and/or get pledges for money to fight cancer. It's grown to an event of over 3500 people. It is a walk/run up to the Snow Bowl ski area, about 7 miles w/ a gain of about 2000 ft. Not terribly steep but enough to get your attention. I've done this for 4 years in a row now and yesterday, for the first time, unicycles made the ascent. I was really pleased to see one guy on a sweet custom Coker and 3 others riding Sun or Yuni 26ers. The possitive comments I heard were very encouraging and maybe it'll inspire more people to learn to ride. We're starting to get a pretty good population of unicyclists in town and I think it'll continue to grow. I was really hoping to be riding well enough to do this event on my uni this year and I believe I could have ridden sections of it but most of it is still too steep for me. I still have trouble ending up with a pedal stuck at the bottom of my pedal stroke on the steep stuff and then I just can't continue through with my spin🙁 . Practice, practice. Anyway, great uni publicity at a very popular local event.😎
Amazing what you miss if you don't check the forum daily. Zach Baldwin is moving to Flagstaff and had a thread recently asking if there are any riders in Flagstaff. I knew there were more than I could find doing the search, specificly you, but couldn't find your user name.
