I have e-mailed Unicycle.com help desk a couple of times and never got a
response. Do I need to call them or what? I'm trying to buy a unicycle
with a different tire than the choices they offer.

If you have been mailing them over the weekend, what do you expect, its
a bank holiday weekend, most people have been off work since thursday
round here.
SArah
To anwer your questions. 1) United States. 2) I want to put a Scwalbe
Big Apple on a 29" Yuni instead of the nanoraptor.
3) I've tried on two seperate times although last weekend was one of
them.

I've been waiting for help from the US Unicycle.com, too. My order
has been in limbo for a week. Maybe it is due to growing pains.
[Note to Unicycle.com people: a quick email explaining the holdup is
definitely preferable to silence.]
By the way, I talked to one of the Unicycle.com folks who went to the
Moab MUni Fest. They definitely don't mind shipping your unicycle
with a different tire.
Also keep in mind that last week was Spring Break here in Atlanta. This
could also have kept them from being as quick to respond. They do have
quite a crew to keep busy when school is out. Also at least 2 of their
employees are in school and may have been off or out of town.

I called them today and they said an update to a Big Apple would be a
small extra fee so I put my order in for the $245 29" Yuni with a Big
Apple. I wanted the black frame 29" Yuni for $299 but the the black
frames are still out of stock and I didn't want to spring for another
$60 for the powder coated frame. Maybe I'll write a product review when
I get it.

I got email from them today. It turns out I didn't see the GIANT
BOLDFACE WARNING that spokes are special order items that take 7 days,
not the normal 48 hours, to ship. The good news is they were able to
add the Magura brake kit for my MUni to the same order. Woohoo - ski
resorts, here I come!
Give them a break. They used to 5 people working full time. Now they
only have three people. I should know because I worked there for a
year. Give them some time and they will take care of you. Calling them
is a good idea.

You didn't mention spokes before. What are you getting as far as
spokes?

I bought black Marwi 14-gauge spokes for a street/freestyle uni I'm
building. Sigh... I know in my heart that double butted spokes make
better, stronger, lighter wheels, but vanity reared its ugly head - I
think I'll like the look of black spokes. The rest of the order
comprises a 20" BFR rim, Hookworm tire, Unicycle.com hub, Semcycle
long neck frame and other parts to complete my new ride.

why not just buy DT swiss spokes?,they come double butted in black.

Now you tell me
The answer is, even though I looked a little I didn't know butted
spokes were available in black. Plus, there is some peace of mind
buying all the wheel parts from the same retailer. That way if the
spokes don't fit, there's no question of who is responsible.

You know, you can't spell vanity without v-a-i-n .
