I just picked up this CO2 powered inflater, plus a 12g extra cartridge. When I put the 12g cartridge in the unit, I can screw the cup nearly ALL the way together without the cartridge being pierced. I'm curious if the last <1/8" is gonna both pierce the cartridge and seal it! The 16g cartridge that came with the unit is longer and therefore it's obvious that it will be properly pierced when I screw the cup on all the way. These cartridges are non-threaded. The instructions say that they can be used, AND the 12g is made by Innovations. What am I missing? Is there supposed to be a spacer for use with the 12g? The instructions don't mention one. So far it looks pretty IFFY...
Mine works fine with the 12g carts, I never tried with the 16g. I modified mine a bit... I drilled a hole in the bottom of the plastic piece just the size of the nipple on the 12g cart, so that I can reverse the cart and screw the thing together without risk of piercing the seal.

Todd, the one I bought today already has a hole in it so that I can reverse the cart. for storage. I've got a feeling the one I just purchased has a longer "multicup" than yours, as the packaging states, "New multicup accepts economy 16 gram non-threaded CO2 cartridge". And therein lies my question; the multicup is so deep that the 12g cartridge isn't being pushed far enough into the puncturing device.
