  1. ๐Ÿ˜• I have an Orbea Liege that came with the Ultegra 9 speed group, but for some reason FD does not have the original shimano clamp-on clamp. I recently noted a small chip on the paint that went down all the way to the aluminum, so I decided to remove the clamp to touch up the paint and lord behold all the paint in the area under the clamp was compress to the degree that it created a small paint ridgeline that follows the clamp contour. My question to the my fellow tech Gurus is Will there be a functional problem if I place a rubber liner (made out of tire tube) on the inside of the clamp so it does not continue compressing/affecting the paint finish directly? Or will this slight rubber barrier affect the FD from sitting correctly on the seat tube?

Thanks for your advice in advance

I'd leave it out, since the damage to the paint is already done. Plus, believe a rubber gasket would tend to let the FD creep down under cable tension. If the clamp has sharp ridges on it, I'd ease the edges with a file or sandpaper and just put it back on.
